Elderberry

From Europe to Asia, the elder bush can be found in deciduous forests, hedges, on the banks of water and in gardens. It produces white, fragrant flower umbels that bloom in June. The smell is sweet and beguiling, the taste is similar to honey and is intense. The ovaries develop into black, spherical, juicy stone fruits with three stone pits.* Important ingredients are flavonoids and essential oil. As a tea, it is used, for example, to sweat against colds and fever.** In summer you can add it to cold water for flavoring.
