Honeybush

The
Honeybush grows in a desert-like steppe area. It got its name from the small yellow flowers, which smell intensely of honey. The processing is the same as for
rooibos: the tips of the branches are harvested, cut and fermented. Since the
honeybush needs higher temperatures to develop its taste than the
rooibos, it is fermented in ovens. It tastes fine and slightly roasted.
Honeybush is caffeine-free, low in tannin and contains antioxidant polyphenols. In Africa it is used, among other things, as a sleeping drink or a remedy for skin problems. It should also have an appetizing effect.*
