The history of Business Trip
What a trip! The journey of this black tea is now already 20 years. Business Trip is one of the classics in samova's program and was already part of the first collection consisting of ten different varieties in November 2002.In naming this aromatic Ceylon tea, samova founder Esin Rager played tongue-in-cheek with the double meaning of the word "trip," which is reminiscent of intoxication. As with many black teas in our collection, the name is meant to allude to the stimulating effect of caffeine.
And with just this effect of Business Trip, every good idea becomes perfect - on a business trip, in a meeting or during brainstorming. Black tea lovers with the highest standards enjoy the classic anywhere and at any time of day. Anything but "business as usual".
In the early years, we at samova used modified advertising slogans for the different varieties. For Business Trip, we used a very well-known hairspray TV commercial from the 1980s:
• 9 a.m., London, Airport: Wait and see.
• 1 p.m., Berlin-Mitte: The guy is totally hardened.
• 5 p.m., Frankfurt Stock Exchange: I buy a T.
• 10 p.m., Hamburg-Pöseldorf: Just let it rip.
The plantation tea for Business Trip comes from controlled organic cultivation from the island nation of Sri Lanka south of India, which was called Ceylon under British colonial rule until 1972. The popular black tea from there achieved worldwide fame under the name Ceylon tea - and still bears this name today. Many Ceylon teas are cultivars of the Assamica plant from the Indian growing region of the same name, Assam, but have developed their own flavor due to cultivation in the highlands of Sri Lanka.
The quality and taste of the tea leaves depend on the region and altitude. Business Trip is a particularly noble and vintage organic black tea from the steep altitudes of 1200 meters with high humidity. The best quality grades grow there. This gives our Ceylon its fine spicy and medium strong aroma and a fragrance that is very slightly reminiscent of citrus. So let's get down to business. Let's get to business! With Business Trip.
