"This spirited specialty tea pays homage to courageous cowgirls who realized early on that strength and subtlety complement each other perfectly."
The story of Rodeo Rose
Life is not a pony farm. Especially not for rodeo riders. In Calgary, the largest city in the Canadian prairie province of Alberta, the "Calgary Stampede" has been held annually since 1923 as part of a ten-day agricultural exhibition and livestock auction fair. This is the largest rodeo show in the world.
But what does it have to do with tea? In 2005 samova founder Esin received a call from Jens Rosenthal, a nice business friend of her media agency 5special, who coordinated the marketing for the travel destination Alberta in Canada: "Hey Esin, we have a travel offer especially for women, would you like to create a tea and host a dance tea for it? Then we could market the tea and the trip together." Esin, who loved unusual briefings and projects, asked back, "Canada and tea? What does the province of Alberta have to offer thematically?" Jens promptly gave her a few keywords: Alberta was the cradle of rodeo riding, the national plant was a wild rose, and scenically, the Rocky Mountains beckoned.
Esin immediately had a romantic, wild image in mind: sitting by the fire in the evening and drinking hot tea - the perfect setting for brave cowgirls to relax! Since her first son Can was watching "Toy Story 2" up and down at the time, she was extremely familiar with the emotional world of the cool and gentle cowgirl Jessie. The new samova tea variety had to be stimulating and sweet at the same time: Alberta Rodeo was born!
Esin created a tribute to Canadian cowgirls with fruity-tart black tea and spirited herbs and spices. The strong organic assam was given a very special touch with guarana and rose petals. On November 6, 2005, the new tea variety was presented at one of the legendary samova Tanztees in the beautiful Übersee-Club in Hamburg. With the partya: Murray Small Legs, a real Peigan-Blackfoot from Alberta, Canada. And the very pregnant Esin, whose second son Sinan saw the light of day four days later! (Link Dance Tea No. 7)
To give greater emphasis to the appreciation of the aromatic rose petals, and because alliteration is just so beautiful, Esin gave the special tea blend a new name for samova's 20th birthday: Rodeo Rose. The perfect name for a gentle and wild cowgirl.
