"Our Garden Party celebrates the mix of cultures with exotic and local organic fruits and flowers."
Esin Rager, samova founder
The history of Garden Party
"Around the world in 80 gardens" was the motto of the Hamburg International Garden Show (igs 2013), which took place on the Elbe island of Wilhelmsburg from April 26 to October 13, 2013 - and right in the middle of it: a samova outdoor tea lounge! But how did it come about? In 2012, samova founder Esin received a call from the organizing team of the city of Hamburg: "Could you imagine us developing a tea for the garden show and running a tea lounge in the middle of the flower landscape for six months?" Esin could very well imagine it. After all, in addition to her enthusiasm for all things outdoors in nature, she had planned to develop a second fruit tea alongside Maybe Baby anyway. This one should look rather light yellow and taste exotic. What could be more fitting than the occasion of the international "Garden Party" in Hamburg? The delicious organic recipe with apple, mango, goji and blossoms was quickly developed and produced.Esin asked her close friend Dagmar von Renner - Hamburg style icon and art manager who is also always up for creative adventures - if she could manage the samova appearance at the igs 2013. Dagmar came on board and off we went into the green, the igs 2013 was a complete success: seven "worlds" between near-natural park areas, waters typical for the Elbe island and allotment gardens inspired a million visitors who explored the garden show grounds on foot or from lofty heights with the monorail. Tulip fields, lush summer flower plantings, perennials and dahlias, flowering meadows, a rose boulevard and the rhododendron garden at the main entrance were the main floristic attractions alongside the two flower halls with weekly changing exhibitions. In the middle of the sea of blossoms a samova tea lounge spoiled the thirsty guests: We had an old sea container renovated and converted so that it had a rain canopy, a counter with electricity and water supply as well as a small sales room with shelves. Around the samova container, seating made from tea crates invited visitors to linger. And there were specially branded samova glasses with "igs 2013" logo and a delicious new fruit tea: Garden Party!
But the greatest thing about this project was and is the "After Show" of the municipal Garden Party: With the Garden Show area, the Hamburg district of Wilhelmsburg has got a new park. After the dismantling of the Garden Show-typical exhibition areas by mid-2014, the "World of Movement" in the northeast of the park remains as a special focal point with the skate arena and the multifunctional small playing field as the starting point for all park sports activities, including the indoor swimming pool, climbing hall and high ropes course. An attractive sports, social and educational offer has been created in the new basketball hall. In the park center, the ponds and bracks with their near-natural banks can be experienced via the new large footbridges. Various children's playgrounds, lawns, barbecue areas and the new kiosk with publicly accessible toilets offer space for play and picnics. There, the park sections on both sides of Wilhelmsburger Reichsstraße will be connected by a barrier-free bridge.
Our organic fruit tea Garden Party also inspires many big and small fans to this day and forms a popular basis for many iced tea recipes. And where is the samova tea lounge container today? It has traveled on to the Nordic cult village Wacken, where it still has its home and is used at the festivals "Wacken Open Air" and "Wacken Winter Nights". We tell you this story in the tea world of our varieties Wacken Days and Wacken Nights.

Inspiration
Let's have a »Garden Party«!
