Maybe Baby Scones

Ein britischer Klassiker: Dort wird das Gebäck Scone zur Tea Time gereicht, in der Regel mit Clotted Cream und Strawberry Jam. Für die Herstellung der besonderen Erdbeermarmelade verwenden wir unseren Früchtetee Maybe Baby, zum perfekten Scones-Genuss passt der samova Bio-Schwarztee High Darling.

Ingredients

People

250 g Mehl
1 Pack(s) Backpulver
1.5 Teaspoon(s) Salz
25 g Zucker
30 g Butter (zimmertemperatur)
125 g kalte Milch
0.1 l Maybe Baybe
etwas Milch zum bepinseln

Preparation

  • Cooking time: 1 h

1. Die trockenen Zutaten mischen und die Butter, Milch sowie den Tee zügig einarbeiten. Entweder mit den Händen oder dem Knethacken der Küchenmaschine. Der Teig sollte nur eben gerade zusammenhalten.
2. Alles auf eine Lage Frischhaltefolie geben, mit Hilfe der Folie locker zusammendrücken und 15 Minuten im Kühlschrank ruhen lassen.
3. Den Backofen auf 220 Grad vorheizen.
4. Den Teig auf einer bemehlten Arbeitsfläche 1,5 cm hoch ausrollen und mit einem runden Ausstecher 3–5 cm große Scones ausstechen. Auf ein mit Backpapier belegtes Blech legen und 10 Minuten ruhen lassen.
5. Die Scones mit Milch bepinseln und je nach Größe 10–20 Minuten backen bis sie eine leicht goldenbraune Oberfläche haben.
6. Noch warm genießen oder vor dem Verzehr noch mal kurz erwärmen. Frisch schmecken sie am besten

Extra Tipp:

Zu den Scones reicht man in England Clotted Cream. Diese ist in Deutschland schwer zu bekommen, das nachfolgende Rezept ist ein guter Ersatz:

200 g Schmand oder Creme Double mit 150 g Mascarpone mischen.

Ebenso gehört zu den Scones „Strawberry-Jam“ = Erdbeermarmelade. Wenn Ihr diese selber kocht, könnt ihr auf 1 kg Frucht noch 1 samova Teeglas Maybe Baby geben. Marmelade wie gewohnt kochen und zum Schluß mit dem Tee pürieren. Die warmen Scones quer aufgeschneiden, mit reichlich „Clotted Cream“ und Marmelade bestreichen. Dazu empfiehlt sich ein Tasse samova High Darling für das authentisch britische Afternoon Tea Erlebnis.
