No. Greek mountain herbs, like pieces of edelweiss or sage, are covered with a delicate, white fluff. You don't have to worry about that. That is the typical look of this plant. If you are not sure, please send us a digital photo of the tea cut and the batch number from the bottom of the can to: contact@samova.net. We will help you further and, in case of doubt, replace the goods immediately and free of charge.
Yes. All samova varieties (the only exception that will soon be converted: Scuba Garden tin, Refill and Mini-tin) are made from raw materials that come from controlled organic cultivation.
Yes, if the tea has been stored correctly. Basically, our tea and herbal specialties have a much longer shelf life than stated on the label. However, to ensure the full flavor of our specialties, we have defined a best before date of five to eight years (depending on the variety).
The SGS Institut Fresenius GmbH is an independent laboratory that examines sources of environmental pollution of the human organism. In the case of our tea, this means: You analyze tea samples for pesticides and heavy metals. The respective analysis results are compared with national and international maximum quantity regulations. This ensures that our varieties are and will always be "clean".
Our varieties are developed in such a way that you only need three lightly heaped teaspoons (corresponds to two samova tea measure) of the dry tea cut (exceptions: fruit teas are dosed more, green teas with less tea). You can find preparation tips on our homepage and on the respective tins, refills and boxes. Please take this as a recommendation, because it is part of samova's philosophy not to make any regulations when preparing our varieties and to enjoy all the freedom of taste - in the truest sense of the word.
samova and our suppliers pay close attention to fair trade and ensure that the respective tea gardens work in a qualitative and ethical manner. We don't just rely on certificates from our suppliers: the tea tasters with whom we work have personally visited and checked the plantations of our raw material producers. They know the local conditions and, in addition to the quality of the raw materials, pay particular attention to the following points when making the selection: on-site reinvestment in social insurance for the pickers, good accommodation and ensuring (school) training. Most of the ingredients for our tea and herbal specialties come from nearby growing areas, such as EU countries and Switzerland - and, depending on the raw materials, of course from more distant areas such as South Africa, South America, India and Sri Lanka. You can also find information about the countries of origin of our teas on the products and the respective pages here on samova.net. Internally we work according to HACCP and carry out regular in-house controls as well as voluntary tests by independent German institutes for all varieties. We obtain all raw materials for consumption exclusively from certified, tested German companies and retailers. We pay close attention to renewable and recyclable raw materials with environmentally friendly, gentle cultivation and production methods. Our organic varieties carry the European BIO seal to make their quality verifiable and traceable at any time.

The samova Philosophical Salon has so far taken place in Hamburg and in the Grand SPA Resort A-ROSA Travemünde. Under the direction of Dr. Phil. Robert André we discussed current issues with a guest of honor. The salon is supposed to stimulate: to listen, reflect and debate in a relaxed atmosphere. This series of events is currently suspended because we are busy with other projects. On request, we will be happy to organize a salon for a private party.
