The history of Master Mint
Like almost everything at samova, the story of Master Mint also revolves around friendship and overcoming cultural boundaries. In this case, this succeeded proverbially "playfully", because at the center of the story is the worldwide known and popular game "Mastermind". According to Wikipedia, the logic game with the colorful plugs that are placed on a brown perforated board was invented in the early 1970s, and in 1973 it won the title "Game of the Year" in England.Two years later, Esin (who founded samova in 2002), then seven years old, moved with her parents from Moscow to Vienna. There, her father, a Turkish diplomat, was invited home by the Australian ambassador to get acquainted. Little Esin accompanied her parents to this reception. At the Australian embassy, she met the son of the house, who was much older than she was. He was supposed to play with her. But how could this succeed without common interests and language? The ambassador's son had a brilliant idea: Mastermind! First he gave Esin a golden kangaroo pin and then taught her the game by playing it for her alone. Esin was fascinated by the nice older boy and the colorful pins. The two played for many hours without a break and became best friends!
Some 27 years later, Esin designed the samova brand with its motto "we believe in friendship and tasty hot water" and the first tea collection. While searching for a suitable name for the pure organic mint, Esin immediately remembered the game Mastermind and the beautiful story of how she came to know it when she saw the English name of the herb "mint". Master Mint was born!
Peppermint and spearmint
The genus of mint is very diverse and includes about 30 species. At samova, the two most popular species are used in the best organic quality in various recipes: the somewhat sharper peppermint and the aromatically light spearmint. The pure mint variety Master Mint is also available in two variants. While the peppermint can be found in the cans, refills and space pouches, the express variant of Master Mint consists of spearmint.
Inspiration
The famous logic game Mastermind was the inspiration for our Master Mint organic tea variety. samova founder Esin learnt it as a little girl from an older boy in the 1970s, without the two of them being able to communicate linguistically: Friendship at first sight and without cultural boundaries!
