"The special thing about our loose low rider is its mildness thanks to the use of fine twigs. A green tea specialty with little caffeine."
Low rider for high-class enjoyment
Big in Japan: the stems and leaf veins of high-quality Japanese Sencha are used for our refreshing and pure green tea specialty. Preparation is uncomplicated, the aroma is mild and grassy. It doesn't get any greener than this!
The story of Low Rider
In this millennium, green tea gently but inexorably conquered our kitchens and offices, cafés, hotels and restaurants everywhere. Unlike black tea, the tea leaves in the green variety are not fermented, which makes green tea very digestible and probably one of the healthiest drinks in the world.
As samova received more and more requests from hotel customers, founder Esin Rager added a pure green tea to the range in 2015. But, and this was important to her: the samova variety had to be classic and easy to prepare. The result was "Low Rider", which has since become a bestseller in the catering sector with its mild, grassy taste. It is not a chic lifestyle product, but a green tea that is robust in the sense that there is not much you can do wrong when preparing it. This is because the water temperature is not as crucial as with some other green teas.
We no longer use loose tea from China for Low Rider, but from Japan. Kukicha is the variety, and our Kukicha is a Karikane. At first, this sounds like manga or Pokémon, but the Japanese green tea variety Kukicha (Kuki means stalk) consists mainly of the stems and leaf veins of the tea plant. This makes Kukicha particularly mild and contains less caffeine than other green teas. If stems from Gyokuro or high-quality Sencha are used in the production process, Kukicha is also referred to as Karigane to emphasize its particularly good taste. And low rider is a karigane for which the first flush is used, i.e. the fresh and tender shoots from the first tea plucking, which are responsible for the particularly soft aroma.
The Sencha Fuji used for Low Rider is a particularly high-quality Japanese green tea with a yellow-green color and a refreshing but mild taste. Like any green tea, it can be infused several times, depending on taste. The fine cut is used for samova (Express) tea bags, while the tea components of our green tea are coarser and larger in tins, refills and Express. The following applies to all dosage forms: low rider for relaxed, high-class enjoyment.
